Fried Chicken
A classic American dish that has become an icon of Southern cooking.

Ingredients
- whole chicken, cut into 8 pieces1
- buttermilk2 cup
- flour2 cup
- paprika1 tbsp
- garlic powder1 tsp
- onion powder1 tsp
- dried thyme1 tsp
- dried oregano1 tsp
- salt2 tsp
- black pepper1 tsp
- cayenne pepper1/2 tsp
- vegetable oilfor frying
Method
- 1Soak the chicken pieces in buttermilk for 4-8 hours in the refrigerator.
- 2Mix the flour with all the spices (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, salt, black pepper and cayenne) in a large bowl.
- 3Heat the oil in a deep frying pan or deep fryer to 170°C.
- 4Take the chicken out of the buttermilk, let drain off the excess. Dip each piece in the flour and spice mixture, pressing down well.
- 5Fry the chicken pieces in batches for 12-15 minutes, turning once, until golden brown and fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 75°C). Place on a rack or paper towels to drain off excess fat. Serve hot.
