Ingredients

  • salmon fillet with skin600 g
  • fresh ginger1 tbsp
  • garlic clove1 piece
  • lime juice20 ml
  • sesame oil1 tbsp
  • soy sauce50 ml
  • honey1 tbsp
  • vegetable oil1 tbsp
  • sesame seeds1 tsp
  • scallion stalks2
  • red chili flakes1 pinch

Method

  1. 1Combine grated ginger, minced garlic, lime juice, a pinch of red chili flakes and sesame oil in a bowl to make the marinade.
  2. 2Place salmon in a non-metallic dish, pour marinade over and spread evenly. Marinate 15-20 minutes at room temperature.
  3. 3While fish marinates, stir soy sauce and honey together in a small bowl until the honey dissolves.
  4. 4Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place skin-side down. Cook 4-5 minutes until skin is golden and crispy.
  5. 5Flip the fish. Pour soy-honey glaze over the top. Cook 2-3 more minutes, basting continuously with the sauce from the pan, until it thickens into a glossy glaze. Remove from heat when the center is just barely pink.
  6. 6Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onion before serving.
